In which we melt into anarchy.

Reading: Finished The Dispossessed yesterday. I don’t know. It was totally fine. One of those polemics cleverly disguised as a novel. There were moments, but only moments, of real characters and plot, and a lot of characters serving as mouthpieces for what felt like a college seminar’s philosophical debate. Maybe I would have felt differently reading this in 1974 (clearly the critics did), and perhaps if I read the other six books in the series, that might also help. Okay, let’s say one positive thing: it introduced the concept of anarchism to me in the way that seeing the symbol etched on kids Jansport’s in sixth grade didn’t quite convey.
Just started Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano.
Watching: Welcome to Wrexham, which is way better and more entertaining that I thought it would be. We picked this up because we’re going to see them play Chelsea in a friendly the week after next, and thought it’d be cool to learn more. I’m now enthralled. Recommend.
Listening to: Listed a bunch of records here last week, same this week. Maybe what there is to say there so far is that I like the new M. Ward record better than anything he’s done since 2006’s Post-War. It’s perfect Sunday morning drink your coffee music.
Playing: Still playing Tears of the Kingdom. The game feels impossibly big, so I could probably copy and past this line for the rest of July and perhaps August.
