In which we prepare for a break.

Next week we’ll leave for our covid-delayed honeymoon which happens to fall on our third anniversary. We’ve done the planning, figured the logistics, and I bought a number of paperback books to take on the flights (I own a Kindle but don’t love reading on it beyond silly stuff that puts me to sleep).
I’m excited, but more than that, I’m worn a bit thin. For the first time in a while, I noticed that I need a break. Knowing that this break was coming, I haven’t taken much time off in the last few months, and I can feel that now. I’m fascinated to see how it feels when I get back.
So I guess that’s all to say it’s working by design. Don’t know if I’ll write while gone, but at worst I’ll be back in late March.
Reading: Still messing around with some thrillers by Thomas Perry, but queued up for the flight: Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr, Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Zonal Marking by Michael Cox, and a visit from the goon squad by jennifer egan.
Watching: We finished the third season of Mythic Quest, and I liked it more than I thought I would. It’s well-cast, and despite the silliness of the plot (it runs into the same problems as many small workplace makes it big dramedies a la Silicon Valley, Entourage, or even Parks and Rec run into), the main characters Poppy and Ian are unique enough to carry the story forward.
Listening To: Black Country, New Road – ‘Live at Bush Hall’
Playing: A little card game called Mahokenshi, and I’m going to try out Marvel’s Midnight Suns while we’re on the road.
Habit Review: 5 of 7 meditated, 6 of 7 exercised
