I had a nightmare this week that I became a lawyer again.

On a related note, I got a sleep aid from my doctor (pretty lightweight antihistamine that also controls anxiety) for the first time in my life. It’s great. When I need to take it (once or twice a month, usually), I fall asleep like a baby. I’m groggy the next day, but it’s way better than what I used to do (function on ~2 hours of sleep).
The strange thing is that I’d been functioning like this since at least high school. A colleague was asking me about it after I had relayed my sleep the night prior and they said something along the lines of “you know that’s not normal, right?” So I finally went to the doctor.
This is the big lesson of my 30s. If you can, go to a specialist when something is going on with your body and/or mind. It may not be a quick, easy, or permanent fix, but every time I do this I wish I had gone earlier.
Reading: Finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. Loved this, may write more about it. Also finished Holacracy by Brian J. Robertson. Started reading Everyday Antiracism (collection of essays) curated by Mica Pollock and I think I’ll start the new Celeste Ng book today as well.
Watching: Still watching The Last of Us and Poker Face as they release (as well as Abbot Elementary). We finished Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence and loved it, the third episode was especially excellent. We also started the third season of Mythic Quest.
Listening to: I’m trying out the new Caroline Polacheck record, Desire, I Want To Turn Into You, which has reviewed really well. I’ve never loved her post-Chairlift material, but maybe that will change this time. I’m still listening to the Young Fathers new record quite a bit. Tis good.
Playing: Beat Hi-Fi Rush last week, and now I’m looking for a couple of games I can put on the Steam Deck to take to New Zealand with us.
